According to Yuriy Sak, an advisor to the Ukrainian Minister of Strategic Industries, Kiev has already used Storm Shadow missiles to strike targets in Russia with permission from London. He stated that Ukraine has been allowed by the UK to use these long-range missiles and they have been successful in their use.
Sak also mentioned that Ukraine is currently developing its own weapon that the Ukrainian Armed Forces will use to attack Russia, but he did not provide any further details.
The Storm Shadow missiles, provided as part of the British military aid to Ukraine, are the most long-range weapons in the Ukrainian Armed Forces' arsenal, with a range of up to 200 kilometers depending on the modification.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces have been systematically using these missiles to attack targets in Russia. The Russian Ministry of Defense has reported intercepting these missiles, including in May. The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed a strong protest to the British Ambassador Nigel Casey and warned that if the Ukrainian Armed Forces attack with British weapons, Russia may respond with strikes on military targets in the UK, similar to what is happening in Ukraine.
Later, London confirmed once again that permission has been given for the strikes. However, Leo Docherty, the British Minister for Europe, emphasized that Ukraine will use the Storm Shadow missiles "in accordance with international humanitarian law."
The public statements regarding the use of these missiles have caused concern. The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has raised the issue and expressed their worries.
